ColourSpun Cotton Scintilla is a beautiful yarn that is mill spun from the finest quality, natural and locally grown 100% pure cotton and a slither of viscose, then hand dyed in our indie dye studio using an earth friendly process and dyes. The special methods used ensure that each strand is imbued with the artist’s energy and will have its own unique characteristics. Since it is non-mercerised, it is wonderfully soft and it has been especially plied to prevent splitting, making it equally good for crochet, knitting and weaving. It’s also hypoallergenic and biodegradable, so good for you and the environment too! approx. 50g = 130m DK weight (but I would say more a sport weight) and composed of 80% cotton and 20% viscose The range of more than 360 colours are usually hand dyed in batches of 5 skeins, although larger batches can be dyed on request. As with all yarn, and especially hand dyed yarn, it is impossible to match colours exactly as there are just too many variable factors that are totally out of our control.
